Following a refuse truck in Hughes Hallet Str. Sliema

The amount of refuse in our residential areas may not only be due to our own habits, or those of our visitors who leave so much refuse lying around on our roads and beaches. Driving behind a refuse truck the Maltastar team were amazed how with every refuse bag collected, one or two items, plastic bottles bags and the like, went flying. At the end, the street almost looked dirtier than when before the collection of black refuse bags and others started.
This in one of Malta's prime residential areas where house prices are very high, but the infrastructure and standards of cleanliness are surprisingly low.
Such shoddy collections and admittedly poor packing of refuse by certain residents would surely not be tolerated in Malta's villages which are far more pristine? Why is it then accepted in such a supposedly upmarket locality?
