Galliani: Milan won't sign anyone
29 July 2010 12:26
Milan vice president Adriano Galliani believes the club are unlikely to dip into the transfer market this summer, though he revealed that talks aimed at keeping veteran midfielder Gennaro Gattuso at the San Siro have been positive.

Having tailed off in the Serie A title race towards the end of last season, Rossoneri fans were expecting to see new faces arrive ahead of the new campaign.

A friendly defeat to Serie B side Varese added weight to the claims but Galliani moved to seemingly poured cold water on those hopes.

"Will we work on the market to bring in reinforcements? I doubt it, but we'll see," Galliani said.

But the Milan vice president insisted that new coach Massimiliano Allegri will not be forced to sell any big name players, and revealed that along with Gianluca Zambrotta and Massimo Oddo - sho both signed new deals on reduced terms -Gattuso will still be at the club next season after clear-the-air talks.

"None of the big stars will be leaving," Galliani said. "As Inter's Massimo Moratti says, if you have to make sacrifices then you have to do it with the players who are requested, not the ones who aren't sought-after.

"Well, the ones who have been requested will not be sold and the others are not sought-after. We cleared the air last night in a meeting with Coach Massimiliano Allegri. I'd say that the skies are blue again.

"I'd like to thank both Gianluca Zambrotta and Massimo Oddo, who will earn in two years only a little more than they had been earning in 12 months. We believe many players could stay with us in 2011-12 too."
